KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- The president's post will be among four posts that will be contested during the Olympic Council of Malaysia's (OCM) Annual General Assembly on May 26.When the deadline for candidates to accept nominations closed today, candidates nominated for the posts of president, assistant secretary (woman), assistant secretary (man), and assistant treasurer accepted their nominations by signing their respective forms.The highlight of the elections will be the race for the president's post which will see a contest between incumbent Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar and Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.Tunku Imran, who took over from Tan Sri Hamzah Abu Samah in 1999, is facing a contest for the first time.Another interesting contest will be for the assistant secretary (man) where incumbent Phua Tai Neng is being challenged by four candidates -- Ramlay Ibrahim, A. Visvalingam, Balbeer Singh and Edwin Chong.The posts of assistant woman’s secretary (Latifah Tan Sri Yacob vs Moira Tan Siew See) and assistant treasurer (S. Jahendran vs Rosmanizam Abdullah) will be straight fights.According to the Malaysian Amateur Athletics Union (MAAU) vice-president Karim Ibrahim, the OCM elections this year will be one of the most exciting affair in a long time."I cannot remember the last time so many posts were contested," said Karim whose president Shahidan will be the main focus of the elections.A total of 32 national sports associations will nominate three delegates each to vote during the elections, bringing the maximum number of votes to 96.The incumbent office bearers have no voting rights.Tuesday, Datuk Wira Mazlan Ahmad withdrew from a possible contest for the post of honorary secretary held by Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, turning all the attention towards the race for the president's post.The OCM line up:President: Tan Sri Tunku Imran vs Datuk Seri Shahidan KassimDeputy president: Datuk Dr M.
